How can I hold that all men are created equal when here before me stands stinking, the moral carcass of the gentleman from Ohio, proof that some men ARE inferior, endowed by their maker with dim wits impermeable to reason with cold, pallid slime in their veins instead of hot blood! You are more reptile than man, George , so low and flat that the foot of man is incapable of crushing you! Yet even YOU, Pendleton, who should have been gibbetted for treason long before today, even worthless, unworthy you deserve to be treated equally before the law! And so again, I say that I do not hold with equality in all things, only with equality before the law!

اصلاً نمی شد یکنفس نگاهش کرد. هر چند دقیقه یکبار که مغزم به مرز انفجار می رسید، به ناچار فیلم را متوقف می کردم، از جا می پریدم، با گام های سریع خانه را دور می زدم و گاه بی صدا و گاه بلند بلند تلاش می کردم شلوغی ذهنم را سر و سامان بدهم و سیل جزئیات را به تفکیک به قسمت های مربوطه هدایت کنم.

از یک مسئله ساده و یک رفتار معمول تکراری، سوژه ای عالی برای تفکر و بررسی دیدگاه های مختلف پرداخته و در عین حال، عمق اندیشه ها و تحولات فرهنگی یک جامعه ی انقلابی را در دیدگاه آدم هایی با گرایش های سیاسی و اجتماعی گوناگون، نشانه رفته است.

دیدن این فیلم به همه کسانی که پیگیر امور تعلیم و تربیت، علاقه مند به مطالعه ای متفاوت بر نگرش های گوناگون جامعه انقلابی ایران در اوایل انقلاب، و به طور کلی به دنبال فرصتی برای اندیشیدن هستند توصیه می شود.

The King's Speech

In this grave hour, perhaps the most fateful in our history, I send to every household of my peoples, both at home and overseas, this message, spoken with the same depth of feeling for each one of you, as if I were able to cross your threshold and speak to you myself. For the second time in the lives of most of us, we are at war. Over and over again we have tried to find a peaceful way out of the differences between ourselves and those who are now our enemies. But it has been in vain. We have been forced into a conflict, for we are called to meet the challenge of a principle, which, if it were to prevail, would be fatal to any civilized order in the world. Such a principle, stripped of all disguise, is surely the mere primitive doctrine that might is right. For the sake of all that we ourselves hold dear, it is unthinkable that we should refuse to meet the challenge. It is to this high purpose that I now call my people at home, and my peoples across the seas, who will make our cause their own. I ask them to stand calm and firm and united in this time of trial. The task will be hard. There may be dark days ahead, and war can no longer be confined to the battlefield. But we can only do the right as we see the right, and reverently commit our cause to God. If one and all we keep resolutely faithful to it, then, with God's help, we shall prevail.
